My Students

As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to provide my students with a love for reading in a multifaceted way.

Many of them have experienced trauma in their lives and have difficulty coming to school.

Our classes serve students with a range of disabilities, including emotional disturbance, autism spectrum disorder and specific learning disabilities.

These experiences may discourage them from learning however, I want to provide a rich library and various reading opportunities for my students to have to on target and valuing their education.

My Project

I am requesting items that will encourage my students to practice their listening and speaking. The audio books will assist on fluency, phonics and further enhance comprehension. My students need various was to learn to read in order to encourage their intrinsic motivation to want to read. This project will make a difference by providing various genres of books we currently do not have within the classroom. My students will benefit from adding a different aspect to our literacy center told daily. We truly appreciate any support to encourage daily reading and excitement for reading. Thank you for supporting my classroom
