Get a Clue -- Narrative Writing Inspiration

Help me give my students literature gaming. Board games can be used to motivate reluctant writers, creative impulses, and socially. Students will inspire a “state of play” in participants giving them creativity for their upcoming narrative writing!

My Project

Incorporating board games in the writing classroom to meet multiple needs with visual, auditory, and creative ideas!

Board games can meet language development and instead of writing for IEP students, students can respond orally.

Systematic reviews indicate that board games help students strengthen their critical thinking skills, storytelling abilities, inquiry skills, problem-solving skills, collaboration skills, motivation, educational outcomes, emotional functioning, cognitive functioning, retention abilities, reasoning skills, discussion abilities, social connections, vocabulary and grammar acquisition.

Within playing Clue as a prerequisite, students will use their problem-solving skills to help format their narrative writing perfect for the Halloween season--Murder Mystery! Playing Clue will help students gain their visual storytelling needs to see how mysteries play out in writing.
