This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

All students are special and deserve a good education!

The unique group of students that I am serving is in great need, in high poverty, and eager to learn.

They struggle every day trying to overcome and receive their basic needs. They live in one of the poorest neighborhoods in the city and state. They are funny, sweet, and hopeful. These students are unfortunately at-risk due to the high crime, poverty, homelessness, unemployment, poor health, poor fitness, and poor nutrition, patiently waiting for them outside of the school gates. They need extra attention and nurturing. They need you.

My students come from many countries, so they are also learning the English language and customs of this wonderful country.

My Project

Did you know that germs can thrive up to 48 hours on some surfaces? Students will catch about eight colds a year and now students risk getting COVID-19 too. Imagine how many days they will lose due to the common cold alone. With so many students in one classroom sharing school supplies, it's no wonder that the classroom can be a breeding ground for cold and flu germs.

We need cleaning and sanitizing supplies that will help keep the classroom clean, will create a healthy environment, and most important will keep the students healthy and learning.

My students will use the supplies daily to wash and sanitize their hands, clean their work areas and develop healthy habits. Students will be able to clean their desks, chairs and materials with disinfecting wipes and the spray. Creating and maintaining the classroom spotlessly and welcoming. The liquid soap, toilet paper, and towels will be used in the students' restroom. I will create lessons about healthy practices to teach students healthy habits. These supplies will reduce the germs in the classroom which will reduce how frequently students, increasing attendance and allowing students to learn.

My school’s attendance dropped dramatically last year as well as the students' achievement. This project will allow my students to increase their attendance, stay healthy, and increase their academic skills.
