My Students

Our German Students are running their own government and involving parents and community in their self directed learning projects. They do a lot of online projects including making materials in German and learning with technology programs. Our German students are great at student directed learning and come from mixed backgrounds. While we have great families and a very supportive school, not every student has their basic needs met. Some students don't want their peers to know their needs. They have a soccer team to help students be more active.

Our students have run their own class elections and started student driven activities for learning language and increasing community involvement.

They put together a soccer team and practice so they can be healthier. They learned about different forms of government and picked student platforms to learn about culture. Students registered to vote and voted and decided what they thought would help them learn more German and help integrate with other subjects at the school. I'm proud of how involved my students are in learning and working hard.

My Project

Our German Soccer Team is a student directed team that has a goal to make students at our school more active. German language students encourage each other to exercise and even invited Real Salt Lake- our Professional team in Utah- so come to our league finals.

Students compete against other languages and take pride in being the best soccer team.

They are learning chants and phrases in German and they are going to make videos recording their learning and practicing. Students are really excited about competing against other teams and winning. Having team uniforms makes a huge difference for students and team unity.
