Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a special education teacher. I teach second grade at a Title I public school in the Bronx, New York. My school is near and dear to me because it is my alma mater. It gives me great fulfillment and joy to serve in the very same community that I attended school. It warms my heart to serve and give back to my community. I teach a program called Horizon. The Horizon program is tailored to proving specialized academic and social-emotional learning to students on the autism spectrum. My students are amazingly unique, enthusiastic learners and they have creative imagination.

My Project

This upcoming school year is an unprecedented one and I want to ensure that my students are safe and equipped with essential supplies and tools they need to empower their academic and social-emotional learning.

In order to maintain a "germ free" classroom,

we need basic necessities such as personal protective equipment, hand sanitizer, disinfected wipes, tissue, paper towels and Lysol spray to sustain a clean learning environment.

My students more than ever have a mixture of feelings and emotions entering the new school year. Please help me provide my students with social-emotional learning books that will be helpful in teaching their inquisitive minds about the corona virus, social distancing and online learning. These books will be instrumental in helping my scholars understand what is currently happening in the world especially during this challenging time.

More importantly, my scholars need school supplies to thrive in school and at home. Please help me give my scholars school supplies such as, notebooks, sharpeners, pencil cases, sentence building cards and math manipulatives so that they can be successful for the school year!
