My students come from a variety of backgrounds, African-American, Caucasian, Hispanic, Asians, and mixed backgrounds. A large majority of my students come from the foster care system or low socioeconomic backgrounds and really struggle with trust and relationship building in the classroom. Since I teach special education the students I teach are not always a typical high school student. Some students are intellectually disabled, Autistic, or have behavior problems, emotionally disturbed and they are all intermixed in the classroom. Many have experienced trauma throughout their life. Keeping them comfortable and feeling at home in order to trust me is one of the most important things.
With the pandemic on the rise, students need more COVID safe resources than ever.
With the uncertainty of being in remote learning or in-person there are many resources that need to be digital to bring about less shock between the transition. There are students and families who have been affected by the pandemic and many students are unable to bring school supplies to school. With budget cuts, there are more needs within the classroom. I will have students remotely as well as in the classroom with me.
My Project
With the current pandemic, it is important that my students as well as myself feel safe in these four walls. It is important that I am able to engage both my remote learners as well as the in-person learners while keeping everyone safe. Sanitizing materials, masks, and hand sanitizer make this easier. The stand will make this all feasible.
Students need a safe and germ-free space for learning.
With the learning model moving to in-person as well as remote, it is now more important than ever to keep kids feeling safe.
