Gering High School Bulldog Barkers Speech Team Support

My Project

For the past 17 years, I have had the privilege of coaching the Gering High School speech team--whom we affectionately call the Barkers. They are one of the most dedicated and high-achieving teams in our building. With almost 50 students on our roster, the Barkers have claimed back-to-back Class B State Speech Championships (in 2023 and 2024). This year, we are looking for our third consecutive state title.

Despite our success, funding is often sparse for fine arts activities and, because the speech team requires so many supplies that get used up each season and must be replaced the following season, we rely on generous support from donors like you to provide the materials we need to be successful each year.

Many of these supplies include poster boards, which go fairly quickly since the students competing in events that require poster boards often need four or more posters each.

Additionally, since our team is growing, we need extra supplies to help us get our work done more efficiently. While we already have one Cricut to help us cut letters for our visual aids, the work is slow and students have to wait quite a while to get their letters because we can only do them one at a time. However, if we were to have two Cricuts, we could get the work done even faster, allowing us to cut two sets of letters at the same time.

Ultimately, all of these supplies make it more possible for our Barkers to experience success, season after season. And we couldn't do that without you.
