This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach middle school mathematics at HOS K-8 Academy. My students are amazing. They are going from a stage where just telling them facts is not enough. They want to understand why math does what it does. They try their best to understand how math works and are always happy and trying to solve the word problems. They are very good readers and most of them love to read. The majority of my students are ESOL students or students that speak more than one language. The school falls under the category of Title 1 Program which means that most of the students come from low income families.

My Project

My students need to work on I-Ready math lessons online using the school's tablets. They need to be focused on their online activities. They will use these headphones to stay focused and on task with their lessons. Also, a big portion of the common core is geometry. Students will use these geometry sets to learn the geometry figures, their volume, and their surface area. The nets on these figures will help students to better understand how the surface area of a 3D figure is created. Students will acquire the knowledge and rigor that it is expected from them by the state examination. My students will learn a great deal on this hands on project.
