My Students

The obstacles my students face daily is mind boggling. From major learning gaps to significant language barriers, they amaze me with their willingness to continue. As their teacher, it is my responsibility to help them overcome these challenges in any way possible.

What we learn today becomes part of who we are tomorrow.

My Project

Students need time to show their uniqueness and to let the world know what they are all about. In our class, Genius Hour is that opportunity! Students are given time throughout the week research a topic that truly interests them. They create PowerPoint/Google Slides presentations, reports, and videos to showcase their findings. And as simple as it sounds, the ability to print their work and create brochures in color is like gold to them. Having a color printer will help bring their creations to life. They can display their work throughout the school. It gives them a sense of pride and ownership in their learning.

Student motivation and accountability are improved by giving them a choice and a chance to explore their interests and passions.

The ability to print their projects in color also enables the ability for the students to bring home their research to show their parents, as most students do not have computer access at home.
