Many of my kids come from poor homes, but what they lack in financial advantage, they make up for with curiosity and a desire to learn. I set the bar high for them and they continually amaze me as they meet and exceed my expectations.
My students love getting their hands dirty "doing science." My students come to class eager to learn.
They often tell me how much they love my class. Hands-on, real-life science keeps them coming back for more.
My Project
Every year my students and I study the relationship between electricity and magnets. We build electric motors out of plastic cups, a few scraps of wire and a battery. This concrete model helps my students better understand how mechanical energy can be converted into electrical energy and back again. This hands-on activity is especially useful for my special needs students.
These kits will make learning about electromagnetism more effective and entertaining for my students.
Our plastic cup models take so much time to "calibrate" we don't have a lot of time left over for actually experimentation. These kits will help eliminate the excessive setup time and allow my students to experiment with different variables involved in the building of an electric motor and generator.
