There are many reasons why my students are special, but the most important reason is that they are eager to beat the odds of their communities.
Regardless of the things that are happening around them, they are excited to continue their education.
Our school is nestled in the northern part of our city. My students are considered at high risk to join gangs, using drugs, and getting involved with violence, but they are working hard to avoid being a part of negative statistics.
We are a Title I school with ninety-nine percent of the students receiving free lunch. Every day, we work together to create opportunities that will help build strong and productive futures for every student.
Every school year I personally spend hundreds of dollars to cover many general items needed for my classroom. On the first day of school for teachers, we must meet with our building administration. In recent years they share with us the budget cuts. Since these general items are still needed, I purchase them myself. This is where I need your help.
The items I am asking for help purchasing includes lamination sheets, pencils and a pencil holder, a pencil sharpener, calming down posters and few other basic supplies. Thank you!
