Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our school has been doing some amazing work in their experiential learning curriculum. Experiential learning is a hands-on approach to education that emphasizes learning through experience and reflection. This method encourages children to engage actively with their environment, allowing them to explore concepts and skills in a practical context.

Through printmaking projects in the visual arts room our students will be given opportunities to explore ideas from the EL curriculum in tangible and fun ways.

For example, when our fourth graders are learning about animals this winter they can come to the art room and use the Gelli Plates to create interesting animal portraits.

Printmaking is a fun activity for all artists of various ages and skills especially when using Gelli Printing Plates. Gelli Plates are an eco-friendly resource because they can be used and washed over and over again. All my students from grades PreK to 5th grade will get the opportunity to experiment with the Gelli Plates making monoprints. I can wait to see my students experience the big reveal when they pull a beautiful print from the Gelli Plate.
