This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are just about ready to start their second unit of the year on Animal Defense Mechanisms! They will be splitting into research groups to become experts on one animal: the gazelle, armadillo, ostrich, or the monarch butterfly. Teachers will use the example of the puffer fish as a model.

In order for students to research these incredible animals, we need high quality books in Spanish to ensure that everyone has access to our bilingual curriculum.

Once students research their animal, they will write a "Choose your own adventure" book that leads the reader through various scenarios in which the animal needs to use its defenses to protect itself.
