Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

I want to provide a space in which my students can gather together. The rug will make learning that more comfortable than sitting on wood floors. Sometimes desks and chairs work, but other times one needs to stretch out or sit closer to a classmate to make learning happen.

My goal is to make Morning Meeting and times of explicit teaching on this rug engaging and as I stated before "more comfortable."

My students come from a high poverty area of Central Illinois. I am new to the state, and would like to brighten up my room. I myself am limited in purchasing what I would like to give to my students. I chose a simple rug that will help get the job done. Thank you for your support!
