Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The specific items that I listed will help me develop a garden for my students. I am a STEM lab teacher, and I love seeing my students learn through hands on experiences. We will use the raised beds to create the garden, soil to fill the beds , tools to tend the garden, and storage chest for our tools. The grow lights will be used to start our seeds inside the classroom so the students can observe the entire process of growth be for we plant them.

Gardening will help the students learn responsibility, patience, problem-solving skills, and it will help them understand how to help their environment.

The age of my students Pre-K through First makes them special because they are at the age where you can encourage them on a path to positive learning. They are like little sponges and soak up all the knowledge that you through at them. Most importantly I just want my students to love learning.

I would also like the opportunity for students to give back to the community and donate foods that they grow to local food banks. I would also like the students to be able to sample the fruits of their labor.

A lot of students do not get the opportunity to experience hands on learning, and I want to literally bring science to life for my students. The more you keep students engaged the more they learn. Not only will they learn how to garden, but they will understand the needs of plants, the structure of the plant, and the importance of pollinators.
