Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Fantastic kids who love engineering, coding, and supporting each other. They're a great group of students who are practicing personalized learning, or one-size-fits-one learning.

They take ownership of their learning and track their progress on goals they set for themselves.

They are so excited to learn about the way that the world works and love doing science experiments.

My Project

So in this project, we have some large plant containers and some potting soil. These materials will be used by the students to grow cabbages for the Bonnie Cabbage scholarship competition. This will go in tandem with our unit on soil and natural resources, along with being used for our school garden club after the cabbage competition.

This is important, because the school garden club will use these massive containers (and sustainable potting soil) to create the school community garden which we will maintain throughout the school year, and even use them into next school year.

Students will learn how to maintain, plant, take care of weeds, and feed plants.

They will also learn how to harvest the vegetables once they are ready.
