This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are very inquisitive and learn best with hands on activities. Many of them live in a small place where they do not have space for a garden therefore, I would like to provide them with the opportunity to learn more about planting and all that entails about growing our own vegetables, herbs and flowers at school. This would be the perfect project for them to learn about this topic but also about life skills such as environmentalism and community service.
Additionally, this will help them be part of a relaxing activity as being close to nature has that beautiful effect.
With your help I plan on using the seed starters, guide and books to teach them about what plants needs and then allow them to plant their seed of choice. Then they will use the sol to fill their starter pot as they take care of it indoors. Then once the seedling has grown will use the gardening tools to transplant it outdoors. They will be super excited to have their own garden in our playground. This project will have the focus on nature with the additional goal to improve their self-esteem and mood, reduce anger and frustration and improve overall general well being.
