This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Welcome to our first grade class! We come from a community rich with black and brown families in South Los Angeles.

My students are curious, excitable, and bright students growing their love for learning.

Our reading levels and number sense range from Kinder - 2nd grade. We need help getting engaging and quality work to each of our scholars to help them move along their learning journey.

My Project

I'm interested in teaching my students about food and science. There are three goals of mine. One is to show where our food comes from. Second is to make better informed decisions about healthy foods. Third is for my students to enjoy the patience, work, and fruits of the labors of gardening.

Gardening will bring science to life for my students.

Our school is located within a food desert. I hope showing my students how to grow food will help inspire their curiosity for growing other things, as well as, trying more vegetables. The product of our little classroom garden will go to our community pantry.
