My Project

I believe and have seen how gaming-styled lessons can make a tremendous difference in students' learning. For example, I had the opportunity to introduce coding to my students. With the introduction of coding, my students became more engaged and I noticed a shift in behavior. When asked how can we make the class more engaging, my students strongly suggested adding gaming style learning to our class. When asked what that would look like, my students informed me that we would need "gaming chairs", special mice and LED-type keyboards sets the tone for a nurturing, engaging and dynamic learning space.

With that being said, the items I am requesting will help me to create a safe, nurturing, supportive learning space that will help my students develop social and emotional skills such as communication, listening and empathy.

Teaching gaming-styles lessons can have a positive impact on my students' learning, engagement, and social and emotional development. Research has shown that gaming allows students to become more engaged in the learning process which can lead to increased motivation and participation.

My goals for this project is to help my students enhance/develop important skills such as communication, skill development and empathy. For example, applying gamification to my lessons will allow my students to effectively communicate with each other on insurmountable levels. I believe developing these key skills can only enhance my students critical thinking skills, creativity and language development.

What makes my students special is their willingness to try new things and trust me to teach it to them. Their level of perseverance and willingness to step out of their comfortable zone to engage in their learning is priceless. Their trust in me has made me a better teacher and I want to show them that learning comes in many forms.
