My Students

Students like to be actively engaged in learning. My students are constantly on the go! We like to move and talk and discuss ideas and projects with one another. We spend a lot of time in stations to participate in active learning.

Our school is a Title I, high poverty school.

The students all receive free breakfast and lunch. They come to school with varying degrees of readiness in all areas, including social. Students come to school ready to learn. They are curious and often spend evenings thinking of new ways to try and trip up their teacher. They love to work together and to problem solve with partners.

My Project

My students need 20 subscriptions to Scholastic News with Science Spin magazines to engage in and increase fluency. They also need a variety of literacy and math games such as the Reading Comprehension Games Library and Math Folder Game Library Set to practice and deepen skill sets. The students will use all of the materials to engage in active learning in small group centers throughout the school day. Students will be able to choose games based on a skill set they are learning or need additional practice with. The games will also allow for me to work with students on skill sets that are difficult for them. Students will also be engaging in social play, practicing their manners and skills with teamwork.

Students will have ready made skill games at their disposal.

They will be able to choose activities on their level, and work with partners who need the same additional practice. These centers will allow students to have more engaged learning time during the day.
