My Project
This project will provide my students with a PlayStation 5 console and gaming headsets to foster teamwork, critical thinking, and social-emotional learning (SEL). These tools will allow students to participate in structured esports activities, helping them develop essential collaboration and problem-solving skills that extend beyond the classroom.
They will learn to think critically under pressure, analyze situations quickly, and adjust their strategies as challenges arise.
Working in teams, students will practice effective communication, active listening, and conflict resolution—skills that are essential for both academic success and future careers.
These gaming sessions will also promote perseverance, emotional regulation, and adaptability as students navigate wins and losses. The gaming headsets will enable clear and effective communication, allowing students to coordinate strategies, share insights, and build stronger connections with their teammates.
Our primary goal is to create an inclusive environment where students feel connected and valued. Many of my students come from a predominantly Native Hawaiian background, bringing diverse cultural perspectives to our esports community. For students who may struggle to engage with traditional activities, these sessions will provide a space where they can build meaningful relationships and develop skills that contribute to their personal and academic growth.
