Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In an effort to reward our students for coming to school every day we have created a game room. Students will now be able to play their favorite games and socialize with each other. Attendance has been a big problem not just in our school, but across New York City. Since our COVID pandemic students are unmotivated to leave the house and their social skills are lacking.

We need to create a nurturing social-emotional environment where students can have fun and socialize appropriately.

Unfortunately, some students live in shelters and in other forms of temporary housing. This means that they do not have the space or opportunity to spend time having fun with their friends. Our game room will provide a common space to let out some steam and get to know each other. These games and accessories will enable us to attract them and reward them for having spent the day in school. It will also have a positive impact on our school attendance.
