My Students

I am learning how to more effectively teach themes that engage students in a way that is more interesting than traditional teaching methods. In an attempt to empower 21st-century learners, constant reinforcement of information is so important. These NYC students need to know how the world around them works and they will be able to do that through project-based learning.

Students learn best when they themselves can create something that shows their understanding of the content they are learning.

What I would like to do is have my students create a board game, card game, or role-playing game that takes the content they are learning and makes it more easily understandable for future classes.

I want my students to be able to make sense of the world around them. We as educators need to find more ways to relate the content to something they know. Please, don't allow my students to have this limitation in their education. Please help my students to be able to learn in a way that is more comfortable and suitable to their life.

My Project

These materials, blank cards, blank playing boards, meeples, and markers, will allow my (10th grade-12th grade law) students to participate in a project-based assignment that will let them make a board game/ card game based off the lessons learned in our law classes. They will use their understanding of the content to allow for their classmates and future law academy students to understand the content more easily. I want my students to not only be able to express their understanding of the content in typically written or verbal formats, but in an interesting way that they can understand more easily. By making a game, it will not only show that they understand the content, but that they can have fun with it in the future.
