My Project

My students love playing games. Practicing literacy skills through game playing is the highlight of any lesson. Students stop by my classroom during lunch, recess, and after school to ask if they can play the game from their lesson again. They even ask to take copies home to play with their families!

I would like to widen the selection of literacy games available to my students.

Currently, most games I have are geared toward kindergarten-level reading skills. As my students continue to make progress with their reading, I have a few games available for them to play. The games I am requesting target 1st-grade-level reading skills. Additionally, the table will allow students to have a dedicated space conducive to playing the games. (Right now students either have to play on the floor on an uneven table that is very wobbly.) The dedicated table space should also help students keep all game pieces/materials together so that nothing gets lost and the games can be played by students for years to come!
