My Students

No greater joy is there than seeing a child realize that he/she can read! A child filled with joyful learning is the greatest gift of all!

Many of my students are not surrounded by the resources that will make them better readers and writers.

I want to provide every opportunity and every resource possible to create a literate environment where all my students can thrive and be successful. My students are a group of 27 boys and girls from very mixed backgrounds. More than half are from low-socioeconomic families who want the best for their children. Our school is a Title I community school, of approximately 650 students. My students are excited about learning and earning "BRAIN WRINKLES" each and every day. They are full of energy and enthusiasm and all possess a really inquisitive nature. They are also a very caring group of children who are compassionate and giving to one another.

My Project

There are essential skills that must be mastered in order to learn to read. Through the use of interactive smart board games and learning station games, the students will be engaged and enthusiastic about learning the basic skills. I will be able to utilize these learning games through out the day during learning stations and small group instruction. Learning to read through various and varied experiences will increase my students self-esteem and promote learning.

This project is so important to me because I believe that with the right materials and the proper instruction that my students can become proficient readers.

In our society, it is critical that we produce empowered and literate children who will become our future leaders!
