My Project

The library went from being a dark, dusty, lonely space to one that is vibrant and filled with chatter before school and at lunch time. Students that visit the library love going to the game shelf to grab something to play with their friends. Most days Uno is completely checked out, and other interactive and conversational games are gaining popularity.

One of the most beautiful things to witness in the library is the joining of students who do not usually gather together.

Sometimes they are united by a new game, and these interactions seem especially special in a middle school environment where students usually really stick to their clique. The materials in this request will help make the library a welcoming place by promoting dialogue among students around a shared activity.

Additional items such as laminating pouches and bookmarks are other ways to get students into the library; they really will be more inclined to check out a book if they have a fancy bookmark to put inside. The laminating pouches will allow me to laminate their colored or homemade bookmarks for them so that they can last a long time!
