This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a special education teacher at a transition center for students with disabilities aged 18-22 in Chicago, Illinois. Our program provides our clients with vocational training and independent living skills, as well as community-based instruction. Our school has campuses located in the South Loop and in Portage Park. I am in my third year teaching at the latter and have been working for Chicago Public Schools in various roles since 2017.

I am looking to acquire a set of board games for my classroom to aid in play-based, social-emotional learning.

The games I have chosen are not only traditional ones that are easy to grasp the rules of, but they are appropriate for adults as well as children. I believe in cultivating a classroom environment that is fun as well as rigorous, and this project will aid in doing so.
