Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach an amazing group of 25- 3rd grade students from all different backgrounds and with many different learning and social needs. Recess is an important time for my students to continue learning socially and behaviorally through play, however the winter months bring recess indoors for many weeks and sometimes months.

Speaking to the power of play in child development, many popular board games can help kids with problem solving, decision making, deferring gratification, and dealing with mistakes.

I am hoping to provide my students with many options for indoor play that include some of my childhood's most favorite games such as Candyland, Life, Trouble, Chinese checkers and much more! Having many options for games that often require groups of students will allow my students to become more comfortable joining in a structured game environment and assist in alleviating any social anxieties and the many conflicts that often arise from boredom.
