My Students

My students are all English Language Learners in ESL or bilingual programs in Corona, NY. They are enthusiastic learners and love reading! Many of my students are new to the country, from Mexico or Ecuador, and others have lived in New York their whole lives.

They love reading about sports, animals, music and arts, as well as stories about kids their own age.

They love doing research projects, drawing, writing, and participating in anything hands on!

My Project

These new lakeshore materials will help build my student's English vocabulary and literacy skills. Students who are learning English as a second language need picture support to learn everyday vocabulary. Sequencing cards will help build student's oral language through story telling. Sight word games will help students memorize these tough to read (and spell) words. Once students are able to tell a story with their new vocabulary, they can use their new sight word knowledge to write.

Oral language helps student's build their literacy.

These brightly colored photograph cards and shiny new games will motivate students to play- and learn!
