"We're playing a game AND learning!" My students love to play games and of course I love for them to learn. So why not put the two together? I would love to have more games for my students to play and learn with on their own. However, I have very limited funds available to purchase materials.
I teach a 1st class of 24 awesome children in a low-income high-need school.
My class is made up of a diverse group of children ready to learn. My class has a wide range of academic skills: from children with little background knowledge due to limited experiences to gifted and talented students who are working 1-2 grades above level! I have children that come to school without any school supplies or lunch money; 67% of my school is on the free or reduced lunch program.
My students love the math and reading block because they get to participate in stations! They go in small groups to different parts of the room to work on different skills. My students are most excited when they have a game to play. They are having fun and learning at the same time!
My Project
I would love to receive some new math and language arts games for my students to use. These games will help students practice sounds, rhyming, sorting, sequencing, adding, subtracting, counting money, and more!
When my students aren't working in my small group they are working on their own and these games provide reliable instruction that reinforces what we have learned in class together.
With your generous donation, my students will have year-long high-engagement activities to push their thinking.
With these resources available to my students for the whole year, I will have more time to devote to my students as well as planning other exciting lessons.
