My first grade inclusion class need 10 language resources, including a Word Family Sliders Set, 1 Short Vowel Sounds 3-In-A-Row Game Set, 1 Roller Coaster Craze: Word Blending Game, a CVC Word Work Center and 1 Blends & Digraphs Word Work Center.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Build learning through play! We are a first grade inclusion classroom in a high needs community with low income families. Most of our students are English Language Learners, as well as students with special needs.
Many of our students struggle with reading and writing. They are far below grade level standards. They are tactual and kinesthetic learners and benefit from learning through play. We teach them phonemic awareness concepts and play games based on the specific concept we are working on, which we find helps them master the concepts faster.
Phonics games are essential in helping children build literacy skills. Our classroom already has a few games, but they are far too difficult for these struggling learners. These games will benefit these students as well as students in years to come.
Think back to when you were in school. What do you remember the most? Was it the educational games you played? Your donation will help create these same memories for our students. It will make it possible for our students to master literacy concepts that are difficult for them. They may not even know they are learning, because they are having so much fun!
