Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I love my that my students have an opportunity to express their voice and individuality through elements of music.
Due to Covid my students have not been exposed to a solid music program.
I teach music at the elementary level. I see the whole school in one week, which includes Autism and Deaf and Hard Hearing students. I would be using this curriculum on a daily basis, reaching the needs of every student.
With this new curriculum students will gain the music skills that they did not get during Covid. They will have experiences in imitation, exploration, improvisation, and visualization. It includes a repertoire rich in folk literature, nursery rhymes and traditional singing games. Rhythm, melody, harmony, form, and timbre are specifically taught. They would have access to many song arrangements using barred Orff instruments, percussion, and recorders.
