Game Zone Standardized Testing Review

My Students

Most of the students that I have come into my class either say Math is their least favorite subject or even worse, believing that they will never be good at Math.

My students have bright, funny, and lively personalities.

Sometimes this goes away when dealing with a high-priority subject such as Math. I strive to make Math engaging and fun while incorporating a variety of teaching strategies into my daily routines.

My Project

The above materials will provide me with the resources to turn my classroom into a game zone during the up and coming state testing. Being able to provide a game like atmosphere during this cumulative review will allow the students to remain engaged and intrigued in the review process. The students will compete amongst each other and other classes to be able to make moves in the game as well as receive incentive prizes. Some of the material will be used for the students and I to progress monitor there gaps while we are doing this year long cumulative review. My students need to be engaged and motivated during tedious state testing review. Testing, Testing, Testing....it seems to be what education is about these days.

Students feel the pressures from society, schools, parents, and even themselves to be successful on this one time shot test that in some counties is being used to determine retention and placement for coming years. My goal is to provide an atmosphere and cumulative review that will reveal to them just how much they do know, allowing a boost in their confidence and self esteem, while alleviating their test anxiety.
