My Students
Our school is starting a Social Emotional Learning program that will help students with autism and social emotional needs learn proper social, coping, goal setting, and executive functioning skills.
We have unique students who will need love and support when going through the crazy transition of junior high!
Our students are fun, smart and caring individuals who want to succeed in school, but need extra supports to achieve that success in their general education classrooms. We are hoping our new SEL program will give them the tools they need!
My Project
Our classes will be using ¨Fun Fridays¨ as a way to practice social skills with their peers by playing games as a class. The goal of this routine is to give them an authentic way to interact with peers.
My hope is for students to learn to coach one another through stressful or unwanted situations and interactions.
The requested games include Chutes and Ladders, HedBanz, and Jenga. Students will also need art supplies like markers and colored pencils for different projects throughout the year. These projects will showcase their self-awareness growth through the year. These supplies and games will help scaffold students into learning more about perspective taking and decision making in numerous settings and situations.
