My Students

My students are curious and lively. My fourth-grade classroom is a place of discovery. I am constantly seeking ways to engage and challenge my group of gifted learners. My goal is to prepare my students to think critically and solve problems. Many of the students in our school receive free lunch due to their socioeconomic status. This lack of resources can limit the experiences students have. I hope to provide engaging materials to broaden their outlook on life and their future. Science is everywhere in the world around us, and I hope to provide opportunities to incorporate STEM into our classroom in order to prepare my students for their future careers.

My Project

Playing board games increases brain function. My students spend so much of their day on computers both in and out of school. They need screen-free, offline opportunities to apply the concepts they have learned in class. This project supports the fourth grade curriculum through reading, math, science and social studies games, while promoting student engagement and achievement.

Playing games stimulates brain areas that are responsible for memory formation and complex thought processes such as decision making, strategic thinking, cooperative learning, and problem solving.

My students can't wait to get their hands on these word and math games.
