My Students

My classroom is diverse and energetic! We celebrate all of our successes no matter how small or large! We are collaborative, creative, and hard working!

The students in my classroom include students with autism, students with learning disabilities, students who are identified as gifted and talented, and students that fall everywhere in between.

My school is in a high poverty area and most of my students receive free or reduced lunch. This year my school does not have the funding to purchase materials outside of the budget.

My Project

Since my classroom has varied levels of academic strengths and needs, most of my teaching is in small groups. I am requesting math games to use in small groups to reinforce skills that students learn this year in fourth grade. Students will use these games to deepen their understanding of concepts while interacting with other students. Who wouldn't want to play a game and learn math at the same time?! My students come from various backgrounds, including households with parents who work at night or who are otherwise unavailable to play games with them. Having games in the classroom will not only improve my students' understanding of math skills, it will also improve my students' social interaction skills.

When students are interested in what they are working with they will gain much more from the learning experience.

These materials will help my students become more engaged while practicing math skills which will promote a deeper understanding of the skill. Math should be fun! Giving my students access to games in math will help set my students up for success in fourth grade math!
