This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I’m requesting an iPad to make a meaningful difference in my students’ learning and well-being. This tool will help us record and analyze each player’s performance on the baseball field, offering a clear picture of where they’re excelling and where they can grow. By reviewing videos and statistics together, my students will learn to self-assess, set goals, and make progress, developing both their baseball skills and critical thinking. With the iPad, they’ll gain hands-on access to data and visual feedback, which are invaluable in building skills and confidence.

My goal for this project is twofold: to improve their technical skills and to support their mental well-being.

My students are talented, resilient, and committed young athletes who use baseball as an outlet for the stresses they face. Many come from low-income households and work jobs to support their families while pursuing their education and sports. Baseball is more than just a game for them; it’s a form of therapy and a grounding force amid life’s challenges. They have big dreams of earning scholarships and attending college, and an iPad will provide the resources to make those dreams more attainable.

What makes my students special is their determination and dedication. They don’t let the obstacles they face hold them back. Their love for the game and desire to improve speaks volumes. With this iPad, they’ll not only advance in baseball but also find a constructive, engaging way to manage their mental health.
