This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Does a butterfly emerge from a chrysalis or a cocoon? What is the difference between a grizzly bear and a black bear? All of these questions and more are answered by Gail Gibbons!
My students are inquisitive and hardworking 4 and 5-year olds who love to learn about their worlds!
They come from a public Title 1 inner-city school where there is not much opportunity to experience the world beyond their own city in New York State.
My Project
Gail Gibbons books are like taking a fieldtrip right in the classroom! The beautiful illustrations and story in these books give students a chance to step outside of their own doors and see into different worlds and times. They give my students a rich vocabulary and understanding of concepts to make them richer people and better students.
My preschool students love to ask questions, but currently we do not have a classroom set of nonfiction books to refer to to find answers.
Please help us by supporting literacy and science through these Gail Gibbons books.
