My Students

My students will be Kindergarten ENL students. I have not met them yet, as the school year hasn’t started, but I am sure that I will love them. Since my students are ENL students, they could come into Kindergarten not knowing a word of English or may not know other students. For some of my students, this could be their first time within a classroom or a school. I know that they will work very hard and be the best students that they could possibly be.

My Project

For many of my new students, Kindergarten will be their first classroom experience. Some of them come from households where English is not their first language and the only English they hear spoken is on the TV.

I want to create a warm and welcoming area for my students first reading experiences.

It's important to me that they end the reading period feeling accomplished, proud, and ready to learn more.

I believe that the Scholastic Magazine will help open the student's eyes to the outside world. I want them to know that there is a big world out there, with lots of opportunities, and it may be different than the world they live in.

Since so many of the leveled books that we use in the classroom are very well worn, I would love for the students to have the experience of knowing that they are important enough to receive brand new books.
