My Students

Because I teach in a low-income/high poverty school district (100% of the students in my school receive free or reduced priced lunch), my students come to school with limited technology. In most cases, the only access they have to technology is their parents' smartphone. Unfortunately, the district doesn't provide an adequate supply of technology for the classroom. I currently have enough Chromebooks for about one fourth of the students in my class.

My students are inherently curious and eager to learn.

By incorporating technology across the curriculum, not only will I be able to engage even the most challenging students, I will also be able to develop the skills necessary to succeed in the 21st century for all of my students.

My Project

My students will use the ASUS Chromebooks to write code when programming. They will also use Chromebooks on a daily basis to write documents, create spreadsheets, and interact in a digital classroom (Google Classroom).

Coding literacy is a vital skill for students to succeed in the modern day global economy.

To properly prepare them in programming, students must be exposed to programming challenges on a daily basis across the curriculum. In order to accomplish this goal, every student should have access to a computer. By funding my project, I will have enough computers for students to work in pairs allowing for more individual practice.
