This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 4th grade music students are a very creative and energetic bunch. They are eager to learn. A general instruction of music is being introduced to the students, including melody and rhythm. My six 4th grade music classes benefit more from a hands on approach when learning musical concepts.

My Project

Now that we are doing in person learning, I want my students to be able to experience and play real instruments. During remote instruction they were not able to gain the usual active learning experience in music class. This year I am on a rolling cart, so I need portable instruments to bring to my classes. There are limited amount of school instruments due to water and mold damage.

Playing the xylophone will help my students foster an appreciation for music.

I will be doing a melody unit and want to use the xylophones to teach scales, improvisation, performing, and taking care of instruments. My students would be overjoyed to be able to play the xylophone.
