Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Many students at our school have shown interest in the art form of guitar playing. The guitars I am requesting will be used for an art elective class as well as an after school program where the students will learn guitar basics which hopefully will lead to them to continue to develop their musical side. The power of music will definitely serve as an escape to the academic school day as well as teach the students a skill that may want to pursue for the rest of their lives.

One of my goals for this project is to introduce students to the amazing world of guitar playing, the notes, the moods that can be expressed through playing an instrument.

Another goal that I have for the project is to expose the students to an activity that could take them away from their daily lives and help them understand that playing an instrument can serve as a type of meditation, helping to improve their mental health in the process.

My students are special because they are determined individuals with varying stories of persistence at such a young age and guitar playing or music for this instance could help them cope with the traumas and experiences that they have lived through.
