My Students
My rural students are bright, creative, and talented. They amaze me with their intellect daily. They are learning to adjust to middle school and changing classes each hour in different buildings. With that comes learning how to to organize and keep track of assignments.
We are a Title I school with our percentage of free and reduced lunch at 75%.
My students do not have access to a computer lab every day nor do they own computers at their homes.
My Project
Having a Rocketbook Everlast for each of my students literally puts technology at the tip of their fingers without the cost of a chromebook or computer. Rocketbooks are designed just like a regular notebook, but with the capabilities to be shared to email, Google Drive, Dropbox, Evernote, Slack, Box, and iCloud. They are also reusable! Just wipe off and start again! My students struggle with organization and this will help them have one notebook for the entire year without having to worry about running out of space.
Students write with an actual pen on actual paper, take a picture of their work, and Ta-Da it is sent directly where they want it to go through the Rocketbook app!
No more lost papers, no more missing assignments, no more loose papers! They can reuse the paper again the next day by simply wiping the paper down with a wet towel.
This is also beneficial to me because I won't have to lug 23 notebooks home to grade each night. Everything is stored in the cloud, but in their handwriting. I love that they can use technology along with actual handwriting. This allows for brainstorming, making bulleted lists, and webs that can all be transferred to the cloud. While the work can be printed into posters or even books, I am excited to help them start their first digital portfolio of writing!
