Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a fourth grade bilingual teacher, Spanish and English, in East New York, Brooklyn. Over 98 percent of our school receives free lunch. The majority of my students speak English and Spanish in my class. Most of my students come from different countries such as Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Ecuador, Honduras and Mexico. My students are hard working, energetic children and they are enthusiastic about learning. They enjoy all subjects, especially math. Please help us integrate math games into our daily lessons. I recognize that many of my students need improvement in math skills. At this time I am searching for funding to teach math in a more engaging and fun way so that my students can become more confident with their math skills. I am asking for Lakeshore "Rolling to Learn Math Games". These math games will provide my students the opportunity to engage in real life skills that enhance math learning. These games will help each students practice different concepts they have learned in our math class. The games will also allow me to enhance the math curriculum in a fun and interactive manner. I am also asking for the problem solving card bank and the math problems overhead kit. My students will benefit the most from these problem cards and overhead kit because these tools will provide them with additional help by boosting their mental math, improving their computation skills, and also focusing on prime numbers. Research proves concrete learning activities enable all learners, especially English as a Second Language students, to improve and generalize academic skills. These games will allow for independent learning as well as class instruction and most important math skill reinforcement. I am also looking for funding for math vocabulary rings. These vocabulary cards will help them master essential math concepts like angles, intergers, and so on. Thank you so much for your help.
