Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

What a wonderful world it would be if my students had books of their own to read. I tend to visit local libraries several times a month just to feed my students' thirst for knowledge. Unfortunately, these books have to be returned. We would love books of our own.

The majority of my students are second language learners and 100% of them qualify for a reduced/free lunch program.

My students are passionate about reading and are inspired to succeed. They have learned about past heroes that even when stricken with obstacles,they did not render easily. My students are inspired to succeed and are not rendering either. Many of my students' parents are working jobs with long hours just to keep afloat,they don't always have extra money to purchase books. Libraries are not always walking distance from their homes and the neighborhood is not the safest. I don't want my students to lose their dreams.

My Project

Having books like Eyewitness Nonfiction Readers, Martin Luther King Jr. CD and read along as well as George Washington CD Read Along in my classroom will give my students the opportunity to read these books all year long. My students will be given the opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations and expand their knowledge on the social sciences curriculum using the historical reference materials I am requesting.
