Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our school's sustainability club wants to grow and eat healthy food!

Many students in our school live in food deserts, have financial hardships, or otherwise struggle to with food insecurity.

The sustainability club wants to provide nutritious food for our school community, and to do so we're going to grow it ourselves. Studies show food insecurity and hunger have a negative impact on mental health and our work hopes to address that in our community.

By learning and teaching gardening skills we'll enable our students to be better able to provide themselves and others with healthy and delicious food. The sustainability club is looking forward to giving back to the community and learning valuable life skills as they provide some healthy snacks to help their peers.
