My Students

I teach students with special needs. They are classified with autism and require manipulatives to aide in their learning. Many of them show a greater appreciation for hands-on activities.

My students learn best when given the opportunity to repeat practices.

Durable classroom manipulatives help to ensure repetition. Some students need the tactile feel of manipulatives in the classroom to promote motor skills as well as better concentration from sensory input.

Manipulatives make learning fun. Students often learn better through play. Manipulatives have been shown in my classroom to promote a higher interest in learning. They explore with the items.

My Project

Engino Discovering STEM Structures Constructions & Bridges Construction Kit, SmartLab Toys Smart Circuits, Bridges and Tunnels: Investigate Feats of Engineering with 25 Projects are able to simulate and model circuits and bridges but it lacks the hands-on element. The Thames and Kosmos bridge and solar power kits will allow students to put these things together with hands-on experience. Many students need the tactile experience to fully comprehend how the projects fit and work together cohesively.

Students will be introduced to components and their definitions, utilize computer programs demonstrating how to model a bridge or make a complete circuit and the use the EDU science lab equipment I have select to create the actual product.
