This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
Glasgow Elementary 3rd and 4th graders are ready to explore robotics and coding! For the past three years, I've been coaching a girls robotics team sponsored by the Girl Scouts. The boys are understandably feeling left out and it's time to include them in the learning and fun! This project will give me enough robotics kits to create another after school club. The majority of my students have never be exposed to an opportunity like this due to financial difficulty. Some of my students haven't even built with LEGO bricks before. Let's give them the experience they need to become future engineers!
LEGO robotics kits will allow my students to engage in hands-on investigation of science, technology, math, and engineering concepts.
Students will be solving problems as a team and developing 21st century skills. I have experienced so much joy watching my robotics teams learn these necessary skills. It is my hope that these students continue their love for robotics and coding into middle school, high school, and beyond. This is a great beginning for them that can lead to a future career in engineering!
