My Students

I work in a multi-cultural school and my class has a diverse population of students.

They often require graphic organizers and other teacher created resources to help break down information.

They also need extra time to complete assignments, and have difficulty taking notes. They want to learn, but they don't always have someone to motivate them. They often go home to empty houses because their parents are working or their parents don't understand the classwork and are unable to help them.

My Project

Due to a decrease in the school budget, my school can no longer provide ink for the classrooms, and most of my students do not have printers at home. I was able to get a printer for my classroom thanks to Donors Choose.

We are almost out of ink, and the toner cartridge I am requesting would help students practice writing skills in a fun way that incorporates art, rather than completing the same writing tasks over and over again.

My students need ink to write a memoir. The ink will help me create differentiated graphic organizers for my students, and students that want to type their memoir can print it at school. My class also needs ink to print out pictures of themselves to use to create a self-portrait. They will use the carbon copy paper to trace their pictures onto water color paper and then they will paint their self-portraits. Students enjoy this type of self-portrait because they don't have to be great artists to be successful. It is also a great way to motivate them to complete their memoirs.

With ink and carbon paper, my students will improve their writing and art skills. These skills can provide them with exciting learning opportunities in the future!
