My Students

I teach 4th grade at a Title I school that is located in South Louisiana. I have wonderful students in my class who love to learn. My school is very dynamic and all of our fourth grade teachers work together to make one-on-one and tactile learning possible for our students.

Fourth grade is a high-stakes testing year.

The children prepare all year for the LEAP test and they must pass it to move on to 5th grade. I strive to find new classroom technology to make learning fun for my students. We are desperately in need of a wireless printer for my students. They love using their computers and need a printer to print their work.

My Project

Every year I teach children who have fine motor issues such as handwriting which makes note-taking difficult for them. Note-taking is a major part of 4th grade and these children are at a disadvantage because their peers have to take notes for them. The Fusion eliminates that and allows the children to take notes for themselves! The Fusion brings confidence back to the writing process, handwriting and spelling challenges sharply reduce the joy, the quality and the quantity of student written work. The Fusion and Writer were designed by educators, to assist and support the struggling writer. Fusion offers individual, password protected workspace for users. Each workspace will contain named files and folders. Easy and Organized. It also supports text to speech, keyboard instruction, split screen spelling/vocabulary. It is an AMAZING tool!

My students have dreams of college and understand that an education is their way to success.

I strive to build relationships with their parents so they know that I will mentor their children throughout their lives, not just in 4th grade. I love my students and it is important to me that they succeed not only in 4th grade, but in life. In the last 4 years I have spent over $4000 of my own money buying uniforms, shoes, eyeglasses, and other things that my students need.
